Extended Diploma in Sport, Kidderminster Harriers

Kai Lissimore

Kai is a Kidderminster Harriers student studying Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at Kidderminster College, and has had his contract extended until end of 2024 with the Kidderminster Harriers First Team.

Why did you choose Kidderminster College and what did you like about studying here?

I think the balancing of the football and the education appealed to me, and I think that the foundation degree I was doing, if I wasn’t gonna go down the football route, then I could use that on an educational point of view.

What has been your proudest moment or biggest achievement in terms of your education?

Probably getting my exam results back; getting a merit merit, it means obviously my exams are done for the year and now I can just focus on my coursework.

What advice would you give our current students/ potential students about getting into the industry?

I definitely think it’s a good industry to get into. I think it’s benefited me, and I’ve learnt a lot in the sporting industry and it’s knowledge that I’ll take on and I’ll use for the rest of my life.

What’s been your biggest challenge?

I think keeping on top of the coursework is hard, but obviously with the support of the tutors and the resources, I think if you work hard then you can keep on top of it.

What does a typical day look like?

For me, I would start by having my training session. After having my training session, I would come over to the academy and catch up on any lessons I’ve missed or go onto a lesson I’m about to do, and have conversations with the tutors about the work that needs to be done and what I can do to better my work.

What do you love most about the industry?

Probably the people that I meet along the way. I think I’ve met a lot of friends doing this course and a lot of people who I will keep in contact with.
