Hollie O’Neill
Hollie O’Neill started off not feeling confident in herself, and is now a lead production in a show here at Kidderminster College! Find out more about her journey below.
Why did you choose KC and what did you enjoy about studying here?
I chose Kidderminster College because as soon as I walked in, it felt really familiar; even though I’ve never been here before, it felt like I was meant to be here. I can’t explain it; it felt like I belonged; it felt right, it didn’t feel something new, it felt like something I should be doing.
What’s been your biggest achievement?
When I joined, I never had any acting experience whatsoever, and now I’m in my second year; it’s now one of my strongest disciplines, and coming up, I’m one of the leads in a show we’re doing, so it just goes to show that you can achieve anything.
What was your biggest challenge?
Discovering what I’m good at. Obviously, because I enjoy musical theatre so much, it’s been a challenge to figure out what I specialise in, what I’m good at, what I can do, knowing what I’m good at and what I’m not good at.
What was a typical day like for you studying at KC?
A typical day is chaos. Sometimes, we’re rehearsing for shows; sometimes, we’re doing dance classes. Sometimes, we’re learning techniques, practitioners – just constantly absorbing knowledge.
Be true to yourself, because coming here at college, it gives you the opportunity to study what you love and there’s nothing more rewarding, or greater than, doing what you love all the time and succeeding in it.
