More about the course

Our Vocational Studies course is about you, your interests and helping you find the right career path for you. This course has been developed to enable any students who aren't quite sure of their next steps yet to gain experience in various subject areas, giving you time to prepare for your future.

This course is an excellent opportunity to experience varied hands-on activities in a safe and supportive learning environment. Alongside practical learning experiences, you will also be encouraged to develop your character and opinions, strengthen your social and interpersonal skills and build your confidence.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for entry onto this course.

What will I achieve?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Gateway Level 1 Extended Certificate in Vocational Studies.

What will I learn?

Opportunities and experiences in areas like performance skills, backstage theatre, hospitality, customer services, business and information technology.

In addition to this, you will look at career planning.

You will also have the opportunity to look at taster opportunities in a range of subjects offered at Kidderminster College.

Work experience opportunities

You will be required to obtain 50 hours of work experience in a relevant area.

English and maths

English will include communication and reading skills, which will be improved in drama sessions and further enhanced within IT and business units.

Maths will include measuring, weighing and timing within hospitality practical sessions.
