The travel and tourism industry is ranked as one of the biggest industries in the UK, employing over two million people nationwide.
Our Travel and Hospitality - Level 3 course at Kidderminster College is designed to provide a strong understanding of the travel, tourism and hospitality sector, giving you the knowledge, skills and experience to pursue a career within one of the many diverse branches of the tourism industry. This Level 3 course will enable you to develop the high-level work and life skills essential for working within such a fast-paced and expanding industry. At Kidderminster College, we have our modern aircraft simulator, where many lessons occur.
Many of your lessons will take place in our modern aircraft simulator, giving you an immersive experience of working in a cabin environment as you learn. You'll also have many opportunities throughout the course to go into the field on trips and residentials to industry-relevant locations. These trips and residentials support many of the units you'll study on this course, providing opportunities to meet and build relationships with those working within the industry.
Entry requirements
- 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and maths.

This course will be delivered over three or four days at Kidderminster College and will require an additional day of dedicated self-study.
You'll also utilise our on-site state-of-the-art flight cabin simulator.
Classes generally run between 9am-4:15pm but may vary.
Alongside this course, there will be several day trips and a residential trip to industry-relevant businesses and services to help you develop your working knowledge of the tourism industry.

Work experience opportunities
As part of your course, you'll be required to complete a 30-hour work placement in a business relevant to the tourism and hospitality industry.
English and maths
If you're aged 16-18 and haven't achieved a GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths, you'll need to take English and maths classes alongside your programme of study.
English will be included through learning new terminology and being able to communicate with a range of people.
Maths will be included by learning how to serve customers when they are paying for products.
Where can I progress?
Upon completion of this course, you can go on to study our FdA Tourism and Hospitality Management here at Kidderminster College.
Alternatively, you can progress onto university to study for similar degrees or go into employment.

The realistic KC Air cabin mock-up provides our learners with a hands-on and unique learning experience, preparing them for the dynamic travel and tourism industry.

My BA in International Tourism Business Management degree enabled me to gain invaluable skills and industry knowledge, which I enjoy sharing with my teaching. Daily tasks:
- Arranges for payment of bills, keeps accounts and ensures adherence to licensing and other statutory regulations.
- Approves and arranges shipboard entertainment and shore trips and liaises with ship.
