If you want a career in Performing Arts, this course is for you. As well as learning specialist subjects within the creative industries, you will also build your confidence, communication and social skills and learn how to work effectively as part of a team. This course specialises in areas of the industry such as Acting, Dance, Physical Theatre, Performance work, Community Arts, and the world of work within the Performing Arts Industry. 

Acting/Dance/Physical theatre offers you training in a professional capacity by industry specialists. Within classes and workshops, you will gain a technical grounding in acting, dance and physical theatre, alongside professional and personal development.

Performance Work: Your skill set will be showcased in several productions throughout the course. Past Productions by Ignite Performing Arts students have included The School of Rock, Matilda, and Mamma Mia! Grease The Musical and The Greatest Showman.

The Performing Arts Industry: As part of this course, you will learn all about the world of work within the creative industry and what pathways are available to you after completing your qualification. The performing arts include theatre, dance, music, and opera jobs. You could work as an actor, comedian, musician, dancer, or singer. Performance jobs are in more than just the theatre or on TV. Performers also work at festivals, in education, cruise ships, and theme parks.

What can I do with a qualification in Performing Arts?

Daily tasks:

  • Plays pre-recorded music at nightclubs, discotheques, and private functions.
  • Conducts interviews and prepares reports for news broadcasts, current affairs programmes and documentaries.
  • Introduces and presents radio and television programmes, reads news bulletins and makes announcements.
  • Trains animals to perform entertaining routines and may perform with them.
  • Performs singing, comedy, acrobatic, illusion and conjuring routines.
  • Assumes character created by a playwright or author and communicates this to an audience.
  • Studies script, play or book and prepares and rehearses interpretation.
