If you are dedicated to pursuing a career in football, this could be a great first step.
The Level 2 Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy course provides a fantastic opportunity for student-athletes to study alongside playing football. You will receive high-quality coaching from UEFA-qualified football coaches at the main campus, and at our dedicated Centre of Sporting Excellence facilities.
On this course, you will work towards your academic qualification at the same time as playing in national competitions such as the National Alliance, FA Youth Cup, and English Colleges. There is also an opportunity to gain sporting qualifications such as the FA Level 1 and 2, and Sports Leaders awards.
You will train three times a week within the same facilities as Kidderminster Harriers First Team, and compete in several leagues, including the Midland Floodlit League and the AOC League (Association of Colleges League).
Entry requirements:
- 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths
OR
- Level 1 Sport Diploma or equivalent
You will need to take part in football trials as part of your application process.
What will I achieve?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Sport.

- synoptic assessments and examinations, which will be sent off to the exam board for marking and assessment
Work experience opportunities:
You will get the opportunity to visit St George’s Park throughout the year, as well as opportunities to coach the Harriers FC Junior team and work with the Kidderminster Harriers in the community.
English and Maths:
English will be included in learning new terminology and for written assignments.
Maths will be included in understanding and analysing statistics.
Where can I progress?
Upon completion of this course, you can go on to study the Level 3 Kidderminster Harriers Football Academy Diploma.

What can I do with a qualification in Sport?
Daily tasks:
- Discusses performance problems with coaches, physiotherapists, dieticians and doctors.
- Maintains clothing and other specialised sporting equipment.
- Builds stamina, physical strength and agility through running, fitness exercises and weight training.
- Attends training sessions to develop skills and practice individual or team moves and tactics.
- Participates in exhibitions, pre-qualifying events, tournaments and competitions.

Daily tasks:
- Manages the playing areas and competitors, starts race, competition or match and controls its progress according to established rules.
- Inspects and maintains specialised clothing and equipment.
- Understands health and safety aspects of various activities and ensures any statutory requirements are met.
- Provides information and develops facilities to encourage greater participation in sport, and to enhance the standards of participants.
- Deals with administrative aspects such as arranging matches, contests or appearances for athlete or team, and organising required transport and accommodation.
