Today, every business, school, college, and household rely heavily upon computers, IT and the internet to function, make money and run smoothly. And if you have a knack for technology, why not become a much sought-after IT Technician?
This Level 2 course focuses on the practical aspects of the IT Industry. Over the academic year, you'll learn how to install computer hardware, set up networks, and customise the software. You'll also cover the ins and outs and the critical thinking and problem-solving required to take on an IT support role in a company, business, or institution.
This course has been designed to provide a strong background knowledge of Information Technology, setting you on a career path to become an IT Technician.
Entry requirements:
- 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including Maths and English

Work experience opportunities:
You will have opportunities to visit different workplaces within the IT industry and listen to guest speakers with years of valuable experience.
You may also have opportunities to work with in-college IT staff to support the IT infrastructure
English and Maths:
You will develop your written and verbal communication skills. This is essential for IT professionals, who need to be able to communicate effectively with their colleagues and clients. For example, you may be required to guide on how to use a new computer system.
You will also use numeracy skills to be able to analyse complex and develop solutions. For example, you may be required to use mathematics when working with IP addresses and subnets in networks.

Upon completion of this course, you can go on to study Level 3 Creative Games Design or Level 3 Computing with Programming and App Development.
