This Beauty Therapy - Level 3 course is designed to prepare you for the world of work by advancing your existing skillset, expanding your industry knowledge and allowing you to work at a higher level in your career.
You will develop an excellent knowledge of massage and modern electrical treatments while also studying the science behind beauty treatments. You'll gain the expertise you need to confidently advise your client and grasp all the practical aspects of running and managing a successful salon.
Our Beauty Therapy - Level 3 course is an excellent qualification that is attractive to employers, who will know you're work-ready with this diploma. Throughout your study, you'll work from Kidderminster College's award-winning salon, Elements, providing treatments for staff, students and the general public.
Entry requirements
- Completion of Beauty Therapy - Level 2 or equivalent
- 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English and maths.
Successful candidates should also ideally have:
- an artistic flair
- excellent people skills.
What will I achieve?
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

The course is run for 16 hours per week, spread across three days.
Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary.
How am I assessed?
- Practical observation in a salon environment
- Written assignments
- Online examinations.
Work experience opportunities
You will be working under supervision at Kidderminster College's on-site salon, Elements, delivering services to colleagues, staff and members of the public.
We will organise a work placement for you as part of this course, giving you the opportunity to work within another salon environment and develop your skills, experience and confidence.
English and maths
If you are aged 16-18 and you haven't achieved your GCSE grade 4/C in English and maths, you will need to continue studying English and maths, alongside your main programme of study.
English and maths skills are also embedded into your Beauty Therapy - Level 3 course.
You will develop your English skills by learning new terminology as you develop further knowledge of anatomy and physiology. You will also develop your communication skills as you learn how to act professionally.
You will develop your maths skills by learning how to organise your time to carry out treatments in good time, as well as using numbers within epilation needle sizing and single eyelash lengths.
Where can I progress?
Upon completion of this course, you can go on to study for a university degree.
Alternatively, you can go straight into employment in the beauty therapy sector.

What can I do with a qualification in Beauty Therapy?
Daily tasks:
- Ensures financial accounts for the business are maintained.
- Demonstrates, advises on and sells hair and/or beauty products.
- Checks and maintains any equipment, and ensures that all safety requirements are met.
- Undertakes and/or directs hair treatments and/or beauty therapy.
- Ensures clients.
- Provides clients with information and advice on styles and treatments, and resolves any complaints or problems.
- Controls the allocation, training and remuneration of staff.
- Determines staffing, financial, material and other short- and long-term needs.
