The health and social care sector depends on passionate and fully trained professionals. Our Health and Social Care - Level 3 course enables you to progress to new career prospects by combining work experience within the industry and academic study. The course is delivered over two years and covers a range of units, including Human Lifespan Development, Anatomy and Physiology and Physiological Disorders.
After completing this course, you could enter employment and embark on further occupational training. Alternatively, you can progress onto higher education at university, training in social work, paramedic science, nursing and other professions.

- 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths
- OR a relevant Level 2 qualification (e.g. Health and Social Care - Level 2) with placement experience
- Suitable DBS Clearance

Work experience opportunities
Once your DBS form has been returned, you will attend your work experience placement one day each week, completing at least 100 hours over the year. The College will find your placement for you, and you'll be visited by a member of the Health and Social Care Team to ensure you're settled in well and to assess your progress.
As work experience is an integral part of the course, completion of placement hours is mandatory.
Potential work experience placements include residential care homes for elderly people, day centres for either elderly people or individuals with additional needs and care homes for people with learning/physical disabilities.
English and maths
If you're aged 16-18 and haven't achieved a GCSE grade 4/C or higher in English and maths, you'll need to take English and maths classes alongside your programme of study.
English will be embedded throughout this course. You'll be urged to record your responses on activity sheets provided and make notes in books, and to define crucial terminology in class.
You'll also use maths skills throughout the course. It will be crucial to manage time throughout your studies, ensuring it is spent effectively while also managing your workload when activities and assignments are set by your tutors. You'll also examine health and social care statistics inside the UK within the context of boosting public health.
Where can I progress?
Upon successful completion of this course, you can go on to study for a university degree, or progress into the world of work.
